Catching-up to do

The need-to-know facts ahead of the Wolves’ clash with Dortmund.

The Sevilla match was a frustrating one but it’s in the past now. On Saturday 27 November (kick-off 15:30 CET), the Wolves host Borussia Dortmund at the Volkswagen Arena. The Green-and-Whites have lost 11 of the last 12 encounters between the two sides and have also failed to score in all of the last nine. Read on for more facts and figures on the home match against BVB.

  • Dortmund (27 points) can go top of the table – at least for a few hours – with a win, as Bayern (28 points) are not playing until later on Saturday against Arminia Bielefeld.

  • Marco Rose’s charges are the only side yet to draw in the Bundesliga this season.

  • VfL’s last league goal against the Black-and-Yellows was scored by Daniel Didavi in September 2016. Since then, Dortmund have gone 847 minutes without conceding against the Wolves, their longest ever run of clean sheets in a league match-up.

  • VfL, meanwhile, could set an unwanted record: they’ve never gone 13 Bundesliga games without victory against one club.

  • Mats Hummels is set for his 300th league appearance in a BVB shirt, a figure that only five players before him have reached.

  • Wout Weghorst has found the net against 16 of the 18 current Bundesliga teams. The only side he hasn’t scored against – other than the Wolves, of course – is Borussia Dortmund.

  • If the Dutchman does complete his collection with a goal on Saturday, he would move clear of Diego Klimowicz in third place in the club’s all-time Bundesliga goalscorers list, behind Grafite (59) and Edin Dzeko (66).
