VfL goalkeeper Koen Casteels will undergo necessary surgery on Friday.
The procedure, which was confirmed on Tuesday and involves removing a plate that was inserted back in 2019, will take place on Friday – ruling Casteels out of the Wolves’ final game of the season against 1. FSV Mainz 05.
Pervan ready to step in
The Belgian, who has also been ruled out of the upcoming European Championships, sat out training on Wednesday as he was travelling back to his native Belgium, where Friday’s operation will take place. Pavao Pervan will replace the 28-year-old in goal for VfL’s home match with Mainz on Saturday 22 May (kick-off 15:30 CEST).
