VfL Women’s 4-0 win over SC Sand came at a heavy price. 24-year-old striker Pauline Bremer went off in the 76th minute with what has turned out to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament in her right knee. The two-time Champions League winner, who joined the club before the start of the season from Manchester City, will be out of action for the foreseeable future. An exact date for her return cannot be given at the moment, although it would appear that she will miss the entire remainder of the season.
“Give Pauline the best support we can”
“This news is a heavy blow for Pauline and for the rest of us,” said Ralf Kellermann, sporting director of VfL Women. “Pauline fitted into the team really quickly after her move and established her presence out on the pitch, which will make it all the harder to do without her for such a long time. We’ll give Pauline the best support we can during these tough times and give her all the time she needs to get over the injury.“
