What the coaches had to say after the victory at Stuttgart.
The Wolves recorded an important 3-1 win away to VfB Stuttgart, picking up vital points in the battle for a Champions League spot. Coach Oliver Glasner was rightly full of praise for his team after the match.
The coaches’ reaction
Oliver Glasner: “After the two defeats, this win was really important for us. We put in a good performance and that helped us get back to winning ways. The match panned out the way we expected it to. Stuttgart were always dangerous going forward and that caused us a few problems, particularly in the first half, but our attacking football is looking really good at the moment. We look likely to score at any stage of the game. Today we were able to count on an outstanding goalkeeper between the sticks. At this stage of the season, it’s not about playing the beautiful game, it’s about picking up points. The team showed a lot of desire and commitment, so I’m very pleased.”
Pellegrino Matarazzo: “We played a decent first half and were able to create chances, but unfortunately we were a bit sloppy in our defending and allowed them a few opportunities. Wolfsburg took the chances that came their way and we didn’t. In the second half, VfL were able to manage to scoreline a bit better. They were more efficient than we were and that was the difference between the two teams tonight.”
