Head coach Oliver Glasner was disappointed with the performance in the 3-2 defeat to Mainz but paid tribute to his players for an outstanding campaign.
Oliver Glasner: “I don’t really want to talk too much about today’s game. Of course we’re not satisfied with the performance, especially defensively. We lacked that cutting edge, but I think after 34 matchdays it’s the right time to take stock of the season as a whole, which has obviously been outstanding. I’d like to pay a huge compliment to the whole team, the backroom staff and coaching staff for this campaign. To cross the finishing line in fourth place is simply extraordinary.”
Bo Svensson: “It was a bit of a wild game. We had good periods and bad periods too. We didn’t have a good grip on the game at first and didn’t see enough of the ball. It got better towards the end of the first half, when we scored the goal. After the equaliser it was an end-to-end game which ended well for us. Whether the result was deserved or not, I’m happy we were able to win and that the players – who played together for the last time this season – were rewarded with another victory.”
