At the VfL women’s winter training-camp in Portugal, the Lady-Wolves are continuing to work hard in preparing for the latter half of the current campaign. On Sunday, VfL coach Stephan Lerch had a total of three training sessions on the schedule for his players.
Team-event on Saturday
For all of the hard work being put in during training, the element of fun is never completely neglected and on Saturday, the coaching staff organised a team-event, to break the monotony of training. Split into a number of groups, the players had the task of solving a number of thought and dexterity assignments. "That gives the players the opportunity to hold exchanges in a different context and they have fun doing that too. A good atmosphere is extremely important during such a long training-camp. In addition, we wanted to get the players communicating with one another intensively to master challenges as a unit. Team-spirit is ultimately extremely important for the team-unit," explained the VfL coach on the intention behind the event.
Pajor stays in Germany
Today it also became clear that back problems would prevent Ewa Pajor from joining her team mates in Portugal. "We don’t want to put her through the strain of travelling right now," explained Lerch. On Sunday, the Lady-Wolves coach was also without Isabel Kerschowski, who is currently struggling with a knee injury. Katharina Baunach, Merle Frohms and Caroline Hansen all trained individually.
The next important appointment on the schedule follows in the coming week: On Wednesday, January 31st (16:00 local-time), the Lady-Wolves test their wares against Spanish first division side Sporting Huelva.
