“A real challenge for us”
VfL head coach Oliver Glasner gives his thoughts ahead of the game against Freiburg.

Following two victories in UEFA Europa League qualifying and a goalless draw against Bayer Leverkusen to kick off the Bundesliga season, the Wolves’ next match is already on the doorstep as VfL face SC Freiburg at the Schwarzwald-Stadion on Sunday 27 September (kick-off 18:00 CEST).
Glasner discussed the upcoming Bundesliga encounter at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Oliver Glasner on...
... team news: We thoroughly examined Lacroix today and luckily there's no structural damage, so there's hope that he can be involved against Freiburg. Josip Brekalo has a chance, too.
... an intensive few weeks: “The boys gave a decent account of themselves again today, although obviously you can tell there’s a bit of tiredness. But I can guarantee that against Freiburg we’ll have 11 players on the pitch who are fully fit and ready to win the game. I might give one or two players a rest and bring in some fresh legs. We’ve had four competitive matches and have won three, which obviously helps us mentally during these demanding weeks.”
... Sunday’s opposition: “Freiburg have got off to a good start again, although their game in Stuttgart can be split into two phases. They were very efficient and had everything under control until they went 3-0 up, but then they were lucky the match didn’t end in a draw. They’ve got a tried and tested squad, and they only finished a point behind us last season. Freiburg are a compact team, they battle hard and cover a lot of ground. And then they’ve got players like Nils Petersen who are always capable of getting a goal. They’re also good at dead-ball situations. It’ll be a real challenge for us and we’re looking forward to the game in front what will be a record crowd – for us at least – of 3,000 fans. We haven’t played in front of that many fans in the last six months, so it’ll be nice.”
