“A lot of fun with the girls”

New signing Lena Lattwein reflects on her first few weeks with VfL Women.

Lena Lattwein has settled in quickly with VfL Wolfsburg Women following her move from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and caught the eye in the She-Wolves’ first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg. Speaking to the media for the first time since her transfer, the 13-time Germany international spoke about…

…differences compared to her former club: “Everything is much more professional and we hardly have to worry about anything. The training kits are washed – we were responsible for that ourselves at Hoffenheim. Our training camp is eight days long, not four, and what we’re offered at the hotel is also completely different. The size of the coaching and backroom team is also much bigger.”

…settling in at VfL and in Wolfsburg: “The players made it really easy for me to settle in. I wasn’t expecting that. I’m having a lot of fun with the girls in every training session and every game, and I’ve really been pleasantly surprised by Wolfsburg.”

…head coach Tommy Stroot: “Tommy communicates a lot, which all the players really like. Everyone knows what they have to do. The roles and responsibilities are clearly distributed and his instructions during the game are very helpful.”

…her preferred position: “I feel most comfortable in defensive midfield. So far, I’ve only played that role in friendly matches. I also feel I can best show my strengths in that position.”

…her studies: “I completed my bachelor’s degree in business mathematics last summer and now I’m in the third semester of my master’s. The fact that my course is mostly online and there are only a few face-to-face meetings suits me, of course. The plan is for me to continue my studies parallel to my football.”
