Oliver Glasner congratulated his team on another strong away performance.
VfL head coach Oliver Glasner was satisfied with his side’s display in the 2-1 win in Bremen, although his Werder counterpart Florian Kohfeldt spoke of an “unfortunate afternoon”.
Oliver Glasner: “I’m very satisfied and happy once again. We knew it would be a tough assignment coming here. Bremen played very aggressively and attacked us higher up the pitch than we were expecting. That caused us some problems to start with, but we got the game under control after taking the lead. In my opinion their goal was a debatable one, and the match became a bit tighter after that. The boys defended with tremendous passion towards the end. Looking at the game over the 90 minutes, it was a fully deserved win.”
Florian Kohfeldt: “It was an unfortunate afternoon for us. We played with great courage against one of the top three teams in the league – they’ve been playing very well recently. We tried to press them high and put them under pressure, but then we conceded two very unfortunate goals. Overall, we didn’t take enough shots at goal and weren’t quick enough in the final third, although that was partly down to the quality of the opposition. We continued to be brave in the second half, and I don’t think an equaliser would’ve been undeserved in the end. At the end of the day, I’m unhappy with the result but I can’t fault my team’s performance.”
