The Wolves returned home from Borussia-Park with a point in their first game back following the international break, despite the lack of training sessions as a team. Jonas Hofmann’s 78th-minute penalty put the hosts in front, but Wout Weghorst netted the vital equaliser five minutes from time.
Oliver Glasner: “At the end of the day, I’m very pleased with the result. We fell behind in the 78th minute but still managed to fight back. I’m very happy with our performance, especially in the second half. After the break we were really good, kept the ball away from our goal and had a few good chances to score. But then just as we were piling on the pressure, we conceded an unfortunate penalty. I’m very pleased the players didn’t let their heads hang, but made amends for it as a team. Overall we deserved to take a point and it was a fair result.”
Marco Rose: “I agree that a draw was a fair result on the balance of play. We had the upper hand in the first half, just as Wolfsburg did in the second. We’re pleased with the point. Obviously, we’d have liked to win, especially as we went 1-0 up late in the game. At that point we should have seen it over the line and defended our lead, but I have to say that in that regard we missed our fans a bit. It’s the same for everyone, though. Still, my players invested a lot in the game today. Now we need to recover because our next match is already around the corner on Wednesday.”
