VfL open a Bundesliga matchday for the first time this season as the still-unbeaten Wolves welcome SV Werder Bremen to the Volkswagen Arena on Friday night (kick-off 20:30 CET). At the customary press conference, head coach Oliver Glasner discussed topics including…

…the opposition: “They’re in very good form, not only because of the eye-catching result in Munich. They have a dangerous attack in transition and they make the spaces very tight. It’s hard to create chances against Bremen. It will be a difficult task, as practically every Bundesliga game is.”

…the Wolves’ current form: “We’ve grown in confidence recently – not just because of the results but also because of our performances. We’ve shown that we can carve out goalscoring chances and score goals against defensive, compact opponents, so we’ll do everything we can to win this home match.”

…the plan of attack against Bremen: “The unbeaten run is a result of the performances we’ve produced. We have to again go about our work diligently against Bremen, we need good ideas going forward, lots of running in behind and good cover to snuff out Bremen’s counter-attacking. We’ll be required to deliver a top performance in all areas.”

…the personnel situation: “Marin Pongracic is set to link up with the team again tomorrow after his coronavirus test, but he won’t be involved in the Bremen game. Daniel Ginczek trained with the team for the first time again today, which was good to see, but he could do with a bit more training time. Josuha Guilavogui will definitely miss out too. He suffered another muscle injury last week and definitely won’t be available against Bremen or next week.”
