The VfL women face Slavia Prague in the Champions League quarter-finals / draw made for the semi-finals.
The Bundesliga women from VfL Wolfsburg will be testing the water in a new country in the next round of Europe’s top women’s club-football competition. At the quarter-final stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, coach Stephan Lerch’s side face Slavia Prague. The draw was made at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday. The games in the round of the last eight, with VfL at home for the first-leg, will take place on 21st/22nd and 28th/29th of March, 2018. At the event in Nyon, hosted with ex-Lady-Wolf Nadine Keßler, who is now a UEFA employee, the draw was also made for the semi-final pairings. In the event of progression, last season’s double-winners would face the winners of the quarter-final clash between Montpellier and Chelsea LFC.
"The Czech Republic is a new experience for us. We are looking forward to the clash with Prague and the short distance we have to travel also very much suits us. Any side that makes it to the quarter-finals has unquestioned quality. Although there are a few months to go until the game, right now we are certainly considered favourites," noted Ralf Kellermann, Sporting Director of women’s football at VfL, adding: "We had initially agreed to play a test friendly against Slavia Prague in mid-February. Considering the constellation now, we will be making a new plan."
