Merle Frohms has undergone surgery on the inner-meniscus of her right knee.
The Bundesliga women from VfL Wolfsburg will be without Merle Frohms for the remainder of the year. The 22-year-old goalkeeper from last season’s double-winners began to feel pain in her knee following a training session during the course of last week. A subsequent MRI scan unveiled a tear to the inner-meniscus of her right knee, which would require surgery to repair. The operation was successfully conducted on Friday morning. "It all went very well and we hope to see Merle back out on the pitch in mid-January," commented VfL coach Stephan Lerch.
