Squad almost complete
Martin Schmidt had almost his complete squad of players at his disposal for the Wednesday sessions.
With their home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach this coming Sunday, December 3rd (kick-off 18:00 CET), VfL Wolfsburg close match-day 14 of the current Bundesliga season. In order to ensure best possible preparations for the clash with the 'Fohlenelf', VfL head-coach Martin Schmidt gathered his men for a double-session on Wednesday – and had almost his complete squad of players at his disposal.
The only absentees on the day were Jakub Blaszczykowski, Ignacio Camacho and Phillip Menzel, who was on the road with the VfL Development-Squad. Having been side-lined with a back problem, Blaszczykowski was able to participate in some light jogging and thus continued with his regenerative training. "We hope to have them back for the final games of the year and that he can play in Hamburg," stated Schmidt. Sebastian Jung and Kaylen Hinds were no longer reduced to individual programmes and took to the pitch with the rest of their team mates for the morning work-out. In the afternoon, the Wolves then took to the weight-room.
At the press round between the two training sessions, Schmidt turned the focus to the up-coming opponent, who are trained by former VfL coach Dieter Hecking: "In Gladbach, we will be hosting a side with serious quality, who will have taken a major confidence boost from their recent success against Bayern – we are well aware of that!" With the Green-Whites unbeaten run having come to an end in Augsburg, the Swiss coach is now concentrated on getting back to winning ways: "When you do lose a game, you don’t want to go and get beaten for a second time in succession. We’ve been unbeaten at home for quite some time – which is something we intend to defend. We want the win, so we can put the defeat in Augsburg behind us."
