Pilar is Freiburg bound
One-year loan move with permanent purchase option.
Midfielder Vaclav Pilar is making a loan move to SC Freiburg. VfL and the club from the Breisgau region agreed on terms for a one-year loan transfer with a permanent purchase option. Soon after moving to Wolfsburg, in mid-August last year, Pilar suffered a cruciate ligament tear to his right knee during an international game with the Czech Republic against the Ukraine and subsequently didn’t feature for the ‘Wolves’ for the remainder of the season. The 24 year old has been back on the pitch and in training since February: “Vaclav is close to making his comeback. Now he needs regular match practice, which is something we cannot guarantee him with our squad. At SC Freiburg, who are experiencing a massive personnel shake-up this season and will also be involved internationally, can offer his a good opportunity to get back on his feet again. We wish him all the very best for his future,” said VfL Sport Manager Klaus Allofs. Pilar underwent his medical examination at SC Freiburg at the end of last week. Vaclav Pilar, signed to the ‘Wolves’ last season from FC Hradec Kralove, who had initially released him on loan to Viktoria Pilsen.
