Clear win thanks to Popp
VfL striker nets a brace as Germany’s women beat France 4-0.
The German women’s national team ended their international action in 2017 with a 4-0 win over France in Bielefeld. Lady-Wolves striker Alexandra Popp weighed in with a brace on the day, whilst in Almuth Schult and Babett Peter, as well as Anna Blässe, who was introduced in the 72nd minute, there were three further VfL players in the DFB side.

Whilst the German side were involved in test friendly action, five other Lady-Wolves were in the hunt for points on Friday. There was bitter disappointment for Zsanett Jakabfi and the Hungarian national team. The VfL players was in action for Hungary over the entire ninety minutes, but could do nothing to prevent here side ultimately losing 0-1 to the Ukraine. Ewa Pajor, who was in action with Poland in Group 2 in Albania, secured the second win in their third qualifier, as Poland comfortably ran out 4-1 (3-0) victors. The VfL striker was involved until the 67th minute. On the night, the Swiss national team fired themselves to the top of the same qualifying group. Lara Dickenmann, Noelle Maritz and Vanessa Bernauer, all in the starting eleven, celebrated a 3-0 win over Belarus.
