Anniversary jersey available from Friday
Wolves to face Darmstadt 98 in special anniversary jerseys.
So far this season, the VfL Wolfsburg pros have worn three different kits – for this coming Saturday’s home game against SV Darmstadt 98 (March 18th, kick-off 15:30 CET), there will be a fourth jersey added to that number. For the game against the 'Lilien', coach Andries Jonker’s men will wear an anniversary jersey specially designed for the occasion. "20 Years of Bundesliga" is the reason behind the move. At the pre-match press conference on Thursday, VfL sporting director Olaf Rebbe and the head-coach Andries Jonker presented the anniversary jersey. "The anniversary jersey is not just intended as a keepsake for our fans of our promotion to the Bundesliga in 1997. We made the conscious decision to wear this at a home game by way of honouring the exceptional achievement of the promotion winning team. They laid the groundwork for what followed in the next twenty years. For us, this is an objective and a motivation at the same time," explained Olaf Rebbe.
Limited edition – on sale from March 17th
The fans also have the opportunity to get their hands on one of the limited edition shirts – with accordingly just 1,997 shirts available – at the fitting price of €97. The sales variation also provides further special features, with the right arm emblazoned with the VfL anniversary logo "20 Jahre Bundesliga". The number on the back is naturally 97, with all of the player’s names from the promotion squad woven into the number. The jersey will be sold in a high-quality anniversary box with an array of different designs making VfL Wolfsburg’s two decades of Bundesliga affiliation.
For the sale of the anniversary jerseys, the VfL-Fanshop in the 'Fanhaus' at the Volkswagen Arena will open unscheduled on Friday, March 17th from 10:00 to 17:00 CET. On Friday, the jersey will only be available to season ticket holders, WölfeClub members and members of VfL Wolfsburg’s official fan-club. The jersey will then be available to the general public on matchday at the VfL-Fanshop in the 'Fanhaus' of the Volkswagen Arena, which will be especially opened between 10 and 18:30 CET, and in the 'VfL-FanWelt' in the City-Galerie (9:30 – 20:00 CET), as well as from 15:30 CET from the Online-Wölfeshop.
