VfL Wolfsburg is currently holding talks with the Polish international midfielder Jacek Krzynówek, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, about a possible move to the club: "I would like to say with a hint of caution, that subject to a medical examination and a final nod on the players’ part, both clubs have almost reached agreement ", announced the VfL manager Klaus Fuchs on Wednesday (29.03.06). The left sided midfielder is expected to sign an deal which will expire in 2009.

Krzynówek, who will face the German national team with Poland at the World Cup finals in 2006, has already worked with the Wolves coach Klaus Augenthaler at both Nürnberg and Leverkusen. Auge knows exactly where his strengths lie: "He has improved year by year, scoring crucial goals for Leverkusen in the Champions League. Jacek is an extremely dynamic player with tremendous shooting ability ", knows the Wolves coach. The football magazine kicker recently measured a shot of the Polish midfielders at 128 kmh.

The 29 year old played in Poland for LZS Chrzanowice, RKS Radomsko, Rakow Czestochowa and GKS Belchatow, during which time he was twice voted Poland’s "Footballer of the year." In 95 Bundesliga matches, for Nürnberg and Leverkusen, Krzynówek has scored 15 goals. His best ever goal tally came in the 2003/04 season, as he scored 12 times helping Nürnberg to promotion to the Bundesliga. The midfielder took part in the 2002 World Cup and played 96 games in the second division, scoring 22 goals in all. This season, Krzynówek has made 18 appearances for Leverkusen scoring three goals in the process.
