‘VfL Stars at Christmas’: Grafite and Josué

Josué will celebrate Christmas in Dubai.

Wolfsburg - Christmas in Brazil, under normal circumstances, signifies a massive family meal with turkey and fruit, beautifully decorated nativity scenes and shiny-eyed children waiting to receive gifts from ‘Papai Noel’. The most significant difference to the festivities in Germany is undoubtedly the temperature, which could be as much as 25°C higher than in Wolfsburg. In Brazil, it is therefore not unusual to take a quick dip in the pool once you’ve opened your presents!

This year though, VfL’s Brazilian duo have decided to do things a little differently and have some exceptional plans: “The long journey just isn’t worth while, so we’ll be staying at home,” explained striker Grafite. Last season’s top scorer in Germany has decided to reverse the roles and has invited his complete family to make the trip from Brazil to the north of Germany. “Then we can all celebrate together - with Santa and a decorated Christmas tree.”

Josué, on the other hand, will spend Christmas Eve neither in Wolfsburg nor in his homeland, but rather taking things in a totally different direction. “This year my family and I will celebrate Christmas in Dubai. I’ve only got to know the country so far through my work and now I would like to spend some time there with my family,” explained the VfL captain. The reason behind Josué’s rather unusual Christmas destination is a very simple one: “We just want to get away from the cold for a bit.”
