The ‚Wolves‘ latest signing Réver and VfL manager Dieter Hoeneß.

Réver: “I never want to go back”

Wolfsburg - Last Thursday, Réver Humberto Alves Araújo – Réver for short – signed a contract with VfL until 2014 and now, almost a week later, the public got their first chance to view the new man. At his official presentation on Wednesday morning, the currently injured Brazilian defender allowed the extent of his ambition to flow freely.

The flashing of cameras had just begun to die down and the press representatives had barely taken their seats as the new man made his feelings absolutely clear: “I want to achieve a lot with this team and I am really looking forward to German football,” stated the Brazilian. Dieter Hoeneß was quick to explain that the anticipation is a mutual feeling: “There are not many players that have really convinced us but, with Réver’s mixture of talent, character and mentality, we were totally coherent.

Réver does deeply regret however that, due to metacarpus break which he suffered in his last game with Gremio, he will be unable to participate against Bayern on Saturday. The new man went on to explain how much he is looking forward to playing together with his fellow countrymen Josué and Grafite: “I’ve been a fan of theirs for a long time and it is a real honour for me that I will now get to play together with them.”

The Brazilian was extremely enthusiastic about his first impressions of his newly adopted home town: “A better welcome is simply not possible. Everything has gone perfectly, and it’s also wonderful to see snow for the first time,” said the defender, and concluded: “It’s always said that first impressions are the most important. If that is so, then I never want to go back.”
