Lorenz-Günther Köstner has urged his men to be wary of a determined Bayern side.

Köstner: “The 5-1 is in the past”

Wolfsburg - Hamburg was the first important step and this weekend, the ‘Wolves’ will be looking to follow up with the next one! This coming Saturday, February 6th (kick-off 3:30pm), VfL will play host to none less than the mighty FC Bayern Munich, who will be looking to extend their recently phenomenal run at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA.

Ahead of his debut home game as first team trainer, Lorenz-Günther Köstner spoke about...

...the past week: “Over the past week I have experienced a team that I can only praise very highly. No matter what we did, they gave their all. We worked very well, had some good discussions and we have all pulled together a little more.”

...personnel and tactics: “I’ve no plans to make big changes, especially as we were decidedly better defensively in Hamburg. We also have more alternatives available to us now thanks to the return of Karim Ziani and Obafemi Martins.”

...the opponents, FC Bayern Munich: “We are of course facing an opponent that is bursting with self-confidence. They have worked hard to earn themselves an amount of implicitness and stability.”

...the infamous 5-1: “Of course all the viewers and fans have special memories of that game. The 5-1 from last season is not a burden, it was wonderful and it still is, but it’s in the past now.”
