Boakye signs - Klimo extends!

Isaac Boakye: Welcome!

VfL Wolfsburg announced the signing of the Ghana-born striker Isaac Boakye from Bundesliga rivals Arminia Bielefeld on Monday (19.6.06). The 24 year old goal-getter was presented to the press at a press conference after passing a medical examination in Wolfsburg. Boakye put pen to paper on a three year deal. At the same press conference, manager Klaus Fuchs announced that striker Diego Klimowicz has signed a one year extension to his current contract.

Fuchs delight

"I am sure that Isaac Boakye will be a major improvement to our team. He was always high on our list for that position ", said Klaus Fuchs. Boakye has been capped four times by Ghana and missed out on the World Cup finals because of a knee injury. He is the fifth new Wolves signing after the club secured the services of Alexander Madlung, Jacek Krzynowek, Uwe Möhrle and Michael Stegmayer: "This move is a crucial one for me. I hope to further develop my game in Wolfsburg and hope I can hit top form quickly", said Boakye, who added that he is particularly looking forward to playing alongside his strike partners Klimowicz and Hanke.

Fine record

Boakye played 35 times for Bielefeld over the last two seasons, scoring 10 goals in the process. In the 2003/04 season, Boakye contributed 14 goals as Bielefeld gained promotion to the top flight. He will wear the number 13 for the Wolves and admits that his favourite position is as a classic centre forward. His favourite music is R'n'B, Reggae und Gospel.
