"We try to win every match"

- von Heesen: Clear goals
Bayern Munich turned their round 13 Bundesliga match in the Schüco-Arena against Arminia Bielefeld in the last ten minutes of the game plus injury time. Bielefeld was desperately unlucky not to take something from the game and their coach Thomas von Heesen said in an exclusive interview with this website: "On the whole we can be happy with the game, but not with our points tally from it." Bielefeld visit the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA in round 14, determined to recuperate the points lost to Bayern. Read here what else the 44 year old former HSV goal getter had to say…
Thomas von Heesen, your side unluckily lost against Bayern. You side matched Bayern in all departments and would have deserved to have taken at least a point from the game. Are you still rueing the missed chances or have you put the game behind you now?
Thomas von Heesen: Of course, it is always a shame to lose what would have been a deserved point, but we didn’t allow Bayern any chances until the 80th minute, while at the same time creating chances of our own. On the whole we can be happy with the game, but not with our points tally from it.
That game should be good for team confidence and motivation for the next games...
Thomas von Heesen: Yes of course. We have developed well as a team, playing a tight game and a good system. Every player knows what is expected of him and is prepared to give 100% in order to fulfil that role. We try to take points from every game.
Before the winter break your side faces Schalke, Duisburg and Cologne. What are you hoping to take from those games? Where do you expect to be at the winter break?
Thomas von Heesen: We try to win three points in every game, although form on the day is a crucial factor, it is important to take points off fellow strugglers.
The game on Saturday in Wolfsburg is one against a team in the same region of the Bundesliga table as Arminia. Will the game be a pointer for the rest of the first half of the season?
Thomas von Heesen: We have to gather as many points as possible to avoid relegation as soon as possible. The Wolves has international ambitions and will not be satisfied with a place in mid-table. There is a lot at stake for both sides on Saturday.
The former Wolfsburg player Tobias Rau was brought on against his former club Bayern. Will he make the starting line-up against his former club at the weekend?
Thomas von Heesen: If Markus Schuler misses out through injury, he will certainly start the game.
Arminia Bielefeld has never scored or taken a point in Wolfsburg. What do you think of such statistics?
Thomas von Heesen: Nothing.
What do you expect from the game in the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA?
Thomas von Heesen: A clash between two teams who want to win at all costs
The World Cup finals are just around the corner. Are you looking forward to them?
Thomas von Heesen: It is fantastic that the finals will be in Germany, but that is in the future. We are concentrating on taking care of our own goals for the season. If we can achieve those goal, we can relax and enjoy the World Cup finals..
Thank you, Herr von Heesen!
