Hanke and Fischer for Germany

Dieter Eilts: Two Wolves!

The German under-21 coach Dieter Eilts has called up Karsten Fischer and Mike Hanke to his squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan on September 2nd and England 4 days later. For youngster Fischer it is his second nomination for his country. Mike Hanke, who missed Wednesday’s training session because of flu, is the most experienced player in the Germany squad. Eilts has also called up three debutants to his squad for the crucial qualifying matches.

 

 

 

Fischer delighted

Both Wolves players played in Germany’s 3-1 victory over Poland last week, and Fischer couldn’t hide his joy on Tuesday as he said at a Wolves fan club meeting: "I am delighted at being called up again and I wouldn’t mind playing in the European championships next year." 

 

Huth, Rafael and Hunt: Debut for Germany

Eilts has introduced three new faces for the impending matches next month. Robert Huth (Chelsea ), the Angolan-born Hertha striker Nando Rafael and the Bremen striker Aaron Hunt. Germany is currently level on points with England in group 6.

Goal: Rene Adler (Bayer Leverkusen), Michael Rensing (Bayern).

 

Defence: Markus Brzenska (Borussia Dortmund), Malik Fathi (Hertha), Robert Huth (Chelsea), Marvin Matip (Cologne), Patrick Ochs (Eintracht Frankfurt), Christian Schulz (Werder Bremen), Moritz Volz (Fulham).

 

Midfield: Karsten Fischer (VfL Wolfsburg), Roberto Hilbert (Greuther Fürth), Matthias Lehmann (1860 Munich), David Odonkor (Borussia Dortmund), Sascha Riether ( Freiburg), Piotr Trochowski (HSV).

 

Forwards: Mike Hanke (VfL Wolfsburg), Patrick Helmes Cologne (), Aaron Hunt (Werder Bremen), Stefan Kießling (Nürnberg), Nando Rafael (Hertha).
