Wolves lose against Essen

Holger Fach: Tough job

Holger Fach is the third coach that Andres D’Alessandro has played under since joining the Wolves from River Plate Buenos Aires in 2003. There seem to be some teething problems between the two, as yesterday’s 0-1 defeat against the relegated second division side Rot-Weiss Essen in Barbis proved: "I don’t like the way he plays his football!" admitted the new Wolves coach after the match. The coach watched his Argentinean midfielder for 20 minutes: "Then I told him to simplify his game. The fact that he gets kicked by less talented players is just something that he will have to live with. He has to learn to play in such a way that he doesn’t get kicked as much", reckons the coach.

Ups and downs…

The little midfield general took a knock to his ankle and was taken off as a precautionary measure. The injury is not expected to affect D’Alessandro’s chances of playing on Sunday. The game was a dull affair watched by a paltry crowd of 800. On 24 minutes, Martin Petrov hit the bar with a free kick. Shortly afterwards, second string keeper produced two fine saves to keep the Wolves in the game. Third choice keeper Patrick Platins also came on, as regular keeper and Wolves skipper Simon Jenzsch was rested.Fach said after the match "We have three very good keepers."

Positive aspects

Fach went on to analyse how things stand at the moment: "I have seen thing I didn’t expect to, including positive things. Miro Karhan was always available for the team as was Pablo Thiam." Juan Menseguez was also praised by Fach: He did a lot of good things. He is the surprise package for me so far."

The Wolves line-up:
