Back to work today!

Andres D'Alessandro: Newly wed!

VfL Wolfsburg begins the new season today, with an initial training session at 4.30 pm. It will be the start of a new era, as coach Holger Fach takes charge of first team matters. He is the club’s sixth coach since Wolfsburg’s promotion to the top flight of German football. Fach will be delighted that he will have almost perfect conditions to start his reign with, and the only player missing at today’s session will be the new signing, German international striker Mike Hanke, who is hoping to face Brazil tomorrow in the semi-final of the Confederation Cup…

Hristov still not fit…

One cause for concern for the new Wolves coach will bet he situation surrounding his Bulgarian midfielder Marian Hristov, who is still having trouble shaking off a troublesome knee injury which has kept him out of action for months: "We will have to wait and see how he fares," knows  the club manager Thomas Strunz.

D’Alessandro returns "very tired"

Argentinean midfielder Andres D’Alessandro arrived back in Wolfsburg on time, as he landed at Hanover airport yesterday afternoon. The little midfield general married his long time partner Erika during the break, and the blushing bride was with him as he landed. D’Alessandro (24): "I’m feeling fine, although very tired. I am optimistic regarding the new season and the talks I held with Holger Fach and Thomas Strunz were of a positive kind," admitted the player, who has been overlooked by Argentina for the Confederation Cup competition currently being played in Germany.
