Holger Fach is the new Wolves coach

Holger Fach: Welcome to Wolfsburg!

The board at VfL Wolfsburg has announced that they will accept a recommendation from the club management, and appoint Holger Fach (42) as the new first team coach at the club. Fach, who was coach at fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, is expected to receive a contract until June 30th 2007. Both sides declined to disclose any details about the contract.

 

 

 

 

"Wealth of experience" 

"With Holger Fach, we have acquired a true football expert who can draw on a wealth of Bundesliga experience both as a coach and a player, " explained the Wolfsburg sport director Thomas Strunz on Sunday (05.06.05): "We are convinced that together with the team, Fach will be able to reach our goal for next season-qualification for a European competition," added Strunz.

 

 

Distinguished record

Holger Fach began his playing career at Wuppertaler SV Borussia, before moving to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1977. He played in the Bundesliga from 1981 for Fortuna Düsseldorf, KFC Uerdingen 05, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and 1860 Munich. In all, Fach played a total of 416 Bundesliga matches, scoring 67 goals in the process. In 1995, the defensive all-rounder won the German FA Cup with Gladbach. Fach was capped five times by Germany.
