Krzysztof Nowak buried in Wolfsburg

Krzysztof Nowak: Laid to rest

The former Wolfsburg and Polish international midfielder Krzysztof Nowak was buried at the Waldfriedhof in Wolfsburg on Sunday (5.6.05). He died of a rare nerve disease at the age of 29.Around 1,500 people attended the funeral service which took place at 11.00 am. The player known to the Wolves fans as their “10 of hearts”, left a wife and two children. The service was conducted in German and Polish.

 

 

 

 

High level mourners

After the service the club laid on food and refreshments at the business area at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA. The club was represented by Fuchs, Bernd Sudholt and Thomas Strunz, as well as Lothar Sander, Sibylle Schnehage, Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Professor Folker Weißgerber, Siegfried Thomas and Dr. Ekkehardt Wesner. Wolfsburg’s mayor was also at the service.

 

Team mates pay their respects

Nowak’s former team mates at Wolfsburg, Holger Ballwanz, Detlef Dammeier, Frank Greiner, Waldemar Kryger, Thomas Hengen and Peter Kleeschätzky were also in attendance, as was a large delegation from the Polish FA. Karsten Fischer and Patrick Platins represented the current squad. The rest of the squad is on holiday at the moment, they plan a visit to the grave on their return. Bayern Munich and Kaiserslautern both sent wreaths and several donations to the Krzysztof Nowak.
