Jentzsch: "Typical for our season"

- Jentzsch: Keyhole examination
In the latest Captain's Corner interview, Simon Jentzsch reflects on the 2-2 draw against Leverkusen in round 33. It was a typical Wolves performance for this season reckons the Wolves skipper: "We have to become cleverer on the pitch. Even when our backs are against the wall we must remain calm," knows Simon, who also talks of his meniscus injury which will make him miss the final game of the season away to Arminia Bielefeld: "I am convinced that we can win there," says the Wolves captain.
vfl-wolfsburg.de: Simon, the crowd in the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA saw a game of two halves as Leverkusen came to town in round 33. The Wolves dominated the first half, only to fall away badly in the second. A draw was the right result in the end wasn’t it?
Simon Jentzsch: On the balance of play…yes. It was a typical game for our whole season. We played some good football during the first half, as we did during the first half of the season. In the second half though, we were catastrophic. Sadly this season we have gone ahead in several games, only to draw or even lose in the end. That is something that we will have to work hard on for next term.
Andres D'Alessandro had a greta chance to finish Leverkusen off, as the game was poised at 2-1 to the Wolves. Sadly he didn’t take his chance, in fact he hit the bar. Apart from that the Argentinean midfielder played well; did he seem relaxed ahead of the game?
Simon Jentzsch: I don’t think so; he was just as excited as the other players. He like all of the team had a good first half. In the second half he struggled to cope with Leverkusen.
It looked like you would be able to finish the season off in the first team despite your meniscus problem. What is the latest news on the injury?
Simon Jentzsch: I had problems with it during the Leverkusen match and will travel to Berlin tomorrow for a keyhole examination.
The Wolves travel to Bielefeld on Saturday. A win there would ensure qualification for the Intertoto Cup. What do the Wolves have to do to ensure that they qualify?
Simon Jentzsch: Bielefeld will be playing for pride on Saturday. They know that their new coach will be watching. They will be determined to round off their season with a win. They have played a good season by their standards. Bielefeld will come at us, and there lies our chance. We have to make the most of our chances in order to win there.
Simon, thanks very much and all the best with your injury.
