Roy Präger to hang up his boots

- Roy Präger: Model professional
Roy Präger will hang his playing boots up at the end of the current season. The popular striker will not be leaving the club, but will carry on his duties as press und public representative at VfL Wolfsburg. According to the club sport director Thomas Strunz, Präger is needed by the club "as an important link between the team, the coaching staff and the club management."
Season over
Because he is nursing a painful toe injury, Präger is unlikely to play for the amateur side against VfL Osnabrück at the weekend. Professional players are not allowed to play in the final four matches of the amateur season, so it looks likely that Präger has played his last game from the club.
24 goals in 90 games for the Wolves
Roy Präger has been on stanby for the first team, although he never played for them. The striker was part of the Wolves side promoted to the Bundesliga in 1997, and returned to Wolfsburg after spending three years at HSV. Präger played 90 matches for the Wolves, scoring 24 goals in the process. In all, Präger played 173 Bundesliga matches, during which he scored 42 goals. While at HSV, he played in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup.
Präger: "Satisfied with my acheivements"
"I am happy at what I have managed to acheive as a player. I will never forget promotion to the Bundesliga with the Wolves and I had three great years at HSV. I am delighted that I will be able to carry on working for the Wolves, because I feel at home at the club, the town and the region in general,” admitted Präger.
We at vfl-wolfsburg would like to thank Roy Präger for his good work as a player at the club, and wish him all the very best for the future.
Thanks for the memories Roy!
