Stefan Schnoor: Angry and gutted

The team and officials had plans for the trip to Bocum. Everyone at the club including manager Thomas Strunz, were in agreement as to what was required of the Wolves in the Bundesliga round 26 match: "We have to win in Bochum in order to underline our ambition of international football next season ", said Strunz ahead of the game. As sometimes can happen in football, things don’t always work out the way people plan. Despite the well meant plans, the Wolves suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, going down 1-5 in the Ruhrstadion…

 

Simon Jentzsch: "No comment! " 

Stefan Schnoor had imagined that his 250th Bundesliga match would end differently than it did: "If you just stand there and look for excuses, you might as well take the boots off and throw them away", seethed the former Wolves skipper after the match was over. Current captain Simon Jentzsch was disgusted with his team’s performance and would only say: "I am so angry that I had better not say anything. This situation has to be sorted out internally, we all failed miserably today!"

 

Tense atmosphere in the Ruhrstadion 

The awful Wolfsburg performance handed an unlikely lifeline to lowly Bochum, whose fans were demanding the head of their coach Peter Neururer before the match. One of the main questions to be asked at the post-match discussions has to be the one which asks how the Wolves were unable to take advantage of a Bochum side which started the game not like a Bundesliga team, but like a young couple on their first date.

 

When the Bundesliga resumes at the start of April, the Wolves entertain the record breaking Bundesliga title winners Bayern Munich…
