Gerets: "Too much respect for Schalke"

- What now Herr Gerets?
The Wolves slumped to their fourth straight defeat away to Schalke in round 21. They never had a chance as Schalke romped home 3-0 against a nervous Wolves pack. It was Wolfsburg's sixth consecutive away defeat and the side coached by Erik Gerets has yet so collect a point since the winter break. The burning question on all Wolves fans lips at the moment has to be what now? Where do we go from here? After the match in the sold out Schalke Arena, both coaches faced the press. It goes without saying that the mood in both camps could hardly have been more differing. Read here what both coaches had to say after the final whistle had been blown...
Ralf Rangnick (Schalke): "We performed well during the first half, during which time we didn’t give them many chances. I was happy that Asamoah was able to play because Bordon and Krstajic were not able to. Lincoln is not quite his old self yet, he is missing around 20%. The most important thing is that we won today. I’m not interested in how other teams play."
Erik Gerets (VfL Wolfsburg): "We all saw the difference in quality between the two sides today. We had made plans for this match, but we showed Schalke too much respect. Right from the off, it seemed as if we were frightened to string passes together. We were on the back foot from the start, it isn’t as if we didn’t try, bur Schalke played solidly today. Lincoln had a superb game, I don’t participate in discussions regarding my position at the club, I will carry on working for as long as I am allowed to."
