Klinsi planning without Brdaric?

Brdaric: No more caps?

At the end of this week the German national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann will announce his squad for the friendly match against Argentina which will take place on February 9th. The Wolves striker Thomas Brdaric looks like being left out again. Klinsmann’ sidekick, the former German international striker Oliver Bierhoff recently said: ”Probably not,” when asked about a possible nomination to the Germany squad of Brdaric. Bitter for the Wolves striker who was also overlooked for the recent charity match played in Gelsenkirchen for the victims of the seaquake in Asia. Brdaric had hoped that his omission from the squad at that time was just a one off thing.

Benny instead of Thommy?

The third in the German national team management team Jogi Löw talked of a recall to the international fold of the fit again HSV striker Benny Lauth, who came on after 74 minutes in his side’s 2-1 home win over Mainz at the weekend and scored the winning goal. Lauth had been out of action for a total of nine months following two operations on his broken foot.

Frontline without Brdaric?

So what’s the plan Klinsi? Should Lauth be able to establish himself alongside the seeded strikers in Klinsmann’s squad Kevin Kuranyi (Stuttgart), Miroslav Klose (Bremen), Gerald Asamoah (Schalke) and Lukas Podolski (Cologne), thing would become extremely tight for Thomas Brdaric. The Wolves manager Thomas Strunz said that he was astounded: “That Bierhoff should say something like that,” but added that the situation could be a source of extra motivation for Brdaric who now has to: “Pull all the stops out and play his way back into contention,” said Strunz.
